At OTTWAY we are passionate about collecting stories, photos, objects and feelings to document and preserve a journey in constant evolution. We are always on the search of stores and places that lights up our imagination and inspire our designs.
Once upon a time, hand-painted and hand-crafted objects brought colour and vibrancy to our day-to-day. Now faded and slowly disappearing, these objects, gems for some and trash for others, tell the story of the way we have lived over the years.
By the time you read this, some of these gems will no longer exist. They tell us who we are and how we got here, and they preserve a history.
On this diary, we will be recording some of our most favourites. This entry features Chinderah Bay Antiques in Tweed Heads, NSW. Owner and Founder, Ray Evans, channels his passion for the preservation of Australia’s maritime history and love of vintage into the magic that is his antique store.
Ropes of all sizes, old maps, military badges, old oars and buoys, wooden plaques, sea glass bottles, you name it..., are some of many items that are nestled in the labyrinth of rooms and corridors. It’s exciting to find people who share our love of genuine antique vintage and want to share our people’s stories and history with the world.
